Colourful Bridges

Play Therapy

Immerse into your wonders, feelings, thoughts and experiences through play, imagination and creativity to explore bridges into your inner world, rebuild attachments and pathways of all the unique and colourful parts of you!

Play Therapy can help children who have hurt and mixed up feelings.

Sometimes you are hurt in ways that cannot be seen by you or others.  Sometimes you have hurt feelings that you keep a secret from others and have locked them away because of things or people who have made you feel upset, not happy, angry or lonely. In Play Therapy your Play Therapist can help you unlock and understand these feelings to help you feel better.

Children go to Play Therapy because they feel frightened or upset or cross about something or something has happened to them. These things can make you shy and not want to talk to others, have a fight or cry or make you feel unhappy with yourself.

Hi my name is Caitlin Barwell

I am a qualified Play therapist and member of the British Association of Play Therapy, based in Torfaen, South Wales.

I achieved a Masters of Science in Play Therapy from the University of South Wales.

As a Child-Centered Play Therapist, I am enthusiastic about providing a high-quality service where the child is the central focus. I strive to create a safe, accepting space where each child feels seen, heard, and valued—free to bring and explore whatever they choose without fear of judgment, empowered to express their inner world through play. I am committed to upholding the principles of unconditional positive regard and building trusting therapeutic relationship that support healing, growth, and emotional resilience.

I work therapeutically with children across the primary age range, supporting those experiencing a wide range of complex issues including trauma, bereavement and grief, parental separation, transitions between multiple home environments, chronic illness in siblings, neglect, domestic abuse, and neurodiverse traits and diagnoses. My approach is holistic, involving the child’s support network and ensuring the therapeutic process is respectful of each family’s unique values, beliefs, and communication styles.
