Introducing Me

Hi my name is Caitlin Barwell

I am a qualified Play therapist and member of the British Association of Play Therapy, based in Torfaen, South Wales.

I achieved a Masters of Science in Play Therapy from the University of South Wales.

As a Child-Centered Play Therapist, I am enthusiastic about providing a high-quality service where the child is the central focus. I strive to create a safe, accepting space where each child feels seen, heard, and valued—free to bring and explore whatever they choose without fear of judgment, empowered to express their inner world through play. I am committed to upholding the principles of unconditional positive regard and building trusting therapeutic relationship that support healing, growth, and emotional resilience.

I work therapeutically with children across the primary age range, supporting those experiencing a wide range of complex issues including trauma, bereavement and grief, parental separation, transitions between multiple home environments, chronic illness in siblings, neglect, domestic abuse, and neurodiverse traits and diagnoses. My approach is holistic, involving the child’s support network and ensuring the therapeutic process is respectful of each family’s unique values, beliefs, and communication styles.
